Activated carbon is used for different food applications like below:
- Decolourisation of cane and beet sugar syrups, dextrose, fructose and other food-grade products
- Decolourisation and purification of organic acids and amino acids from fermentation processes
- Removing chlorine and ozone from the water to be used in production of beer, fruit juice and other beverages
- Purification of carbondioxide which is used for the production of carbonated drinks.
- Production of decaffeinate tea and coffee
- Removal of colour and odour molecules from edible oils.
- Removal of odour or colour molecules from glycerine
- Remaoval of colour and odour molecules from alcoholic beverages like wine, vodka, beer, etc
- Removal of patulin from apple juice
- Removal of colour molecules and mitotoxins from fruit juices
